Chaya Eaddy
I’m Chaya, a DMV native and proud mama to three beautiful children. Since beginning my student midwifery journey in 2021, I’ve come to truly appreciate the profound importance of ‘intrinsic’ birth. My journey started in nursing, with the aim of becoming a labor and delivery nurse. I earned my CNA license, NRP/CPR certification, and full-spectrum doula certification in 2019. In 2020, I began apprenticing as a student and birth assistant for a local home birth midwife.
Running Intrinsic Motherhood and working part-time as a clinical tech in a local hospital’s L&D unit has further fueled my passion. I dream of becoming a CNM and opening my own practice to offer families the comfort of home births, just as I experienced with my own children.
As a placenta encapsulation specialist, birth photographer, and perinatal advocate, my heart has always been set on supporting mothers during this sacred time. From a young age, I knew I wanted to guide mothers through their journey into motherhood, and I can’t imagine doing anything else.
I believe every person deserves an informed and autonomous birth, no matter the path they choose. Advocacy is at the core of doula work, and it’s what drives me to continue in this field. Over the past few years, I’ve had the honor of attending over 200 births as a doula, student midwife, and tech. While I specialize in natural intrinsic birth, I support all birth choices and help mothers find their own path.
The bonds I form with my clients often turn into close, loving friendships. I prioritize mutual trust and safety, ensuring you can confide in and rely on me during the most sacred times.

Nia Speight
I’m Nia, a longtime caregiver! I’ve been in the family service field for nine years, and I’m super grateful to have entered the Doula world.
As a psychology student, in 2017 I began my career in the nanny and RBT profession. Within seven years, I’ve provided in-home care to over 24 children and worked as a program facilitator in special education- until my own child came along...
In 2022, I experienced a very positive home birth with my babygirl. I had truly went headfirst into the birthing world, reading all the self-help books, while also envisioning what it might look like to support other parents on that same path.
One year later, I landed a counseling position at a historic cemetery in Virginia. I had the privilege of supporting not only adults who’ve lost parents, but new parents who’ve gained angels too soon.
During this time, I chose to enroll first as a postpartum doula through DONA International.
In 2025, as I complete training not only in postpartum, but birth and bereavement, my goal is to be a full-spectrum doula. Ultimately, I want my knowledge and expertise to fall into every part of life; before, during, and after.
Through this journey, I’ve gained hands-on skills in newborn care, postpartum recovery support, and birth preparation. I offer families practical help like safe sleep guidance, infant soothing, feeding support, and emotional care during the fourth trimester. I also support families whose babies may have unique health needs—such as those born prematurely, with medical conditions, or transitioning home from a NICU stay—providing calm, compassionate care during what can be a tender and uncertain time.
In birth settings, I hold space as an advocate and grounding presence—supporting physiological birth, informed decision-making, and honoring each family's unique path. My care is also deeply shaped by ancestral wisdom and cultural postpartum traditions, creating a sacred container for healing, nourishment, and generational connection in the early weeks of parenthood.
